Maybe it's enough to say that the Common Ground Fair is organic.
Besides the expected farming and gardening information, there's
lot's of "alternative" everything == life styles, music,
politics, medicines, philosophies, ....you name it! There are
displays, lectures, storytellers, workshops .......
and a A VERY LARGE Fleece Show and Sale.
Amy came up from Connecticut for Common Ground. She, Pam and Rae
did the usual volunteer duty at the Fleece Tent.

Helen York (you may know her as "Aunt Rhodies", purveyor of spinning & knitting supplies, or as a prior "voice" on Maine Public Radio) judged the Fleece Show again in 2000.
Helen does a good job of vocalizing her opinions of the fleeces under her fingers. Val Weiland of Wood*Stock Farm & Carding Mill (on the R in the photo) acts as recording secretary during the judging.
Pam hovers in the background while Donna (L) weighs out
a Hatchtown fleece for Paula (R)
Meanwhile, I was over in the Animal Products Area
helping Christine Macchi out at the Maine
Fiberarts tent. Despite us sort of being tucked away in
the back of beyond, we had a constant flow of fiber folks coming
through -- checking out our displays and signing up for the upcoming
Maine Fiber Directory -- or whatever it winds up being called.

We had some nice neighbors in the Animal Products
Area!
