Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival 2000

It was very WARM!! Temps were up in the mid 90's (34+ degs Celsius). That felt EXTREMELY HOT to those of us who'd come down from Maine where there were not yet leaves on the trees!

A view down the lane in the new "East Vendor Area" where the Hatchtown Farm booth has been the last two years.

Saturday's Spinnner's Auction seemed to feature a lot more "used" equipment than in previous years.

A lot of online spinners have heard about the "spindle cart" that Pat Bullen (Bullens Woolens) takes with her to fiberous events. I'm positive she has one of EVERY kind of spindle. And you're welcome to try ANY of them! I think I've heard that some of them are even available on loan!!

Another state of Maine business -- Helen York's "Aunt Rhodies" -- travels south in a fairly distinctive trailer. You know, you don't see many gypsy wagons with red, corrugated roofs out on the interstate highways.

There are sheep shows going on almost continuously during the Festival's two days. Unfortunately, we vendors don't have much time for spectating.

Neither man nor woman lives by fiber alone! <G> Undoubtedly, our best find in Maryland has been Frank's Diner on Route 1 in Jessup -- maybe 25 minutes from the Howard County Fairgrounds. After a hot day at the Festival, a long tall iced tea and an order of Frank's chicken & ribs is just PERFRECT!
