The New York State Sheep & Fiber Festival

Pam and I used to enjoy being slightly "hidden" at Rhinebeck. We shared boothspace with Sharon Moore under her business name of The Rose and The Thistle so most people didn't know we were even there -- at least in advance of the event. It was fun to be continually discovered! It was certainly much different than the scenario at the Maryland Festival where there's a mad dash of people first thing on Saturday morning.

Our boothspace at this show is certainly grand! When Sharon first applied for admission as a vendor -- being a new vendor -- she was assigned to the newly constructed Horticultural Building == What a lucky break!

The Horticultural Building

The new building is completely enclosed -- a real advantage for a show that happens in mid-October in upstate New York -- on a weekend renowned for its rain!

All the other buildings at the Rhinebeck fairgrounds are open sided animal barns that have been wrapped in plastic sheeting.

The inside of the Horticultural Building is also especially nice with lots of natural wood and exposed braces. There's also a nice dry cement floor..

Sharon demos on a Louet while Pam does some spindling.

You never know who might show up at your show booth!! I've decided that the lady pictured on the right must be Little Bo Peep. She can't possibly be "Mary" as Mary's "little lamb had fleece as white as snow" and what we have here is obviously a colored sheep!
