Note — according to Princeton University’s WordNet: the word “variety” is change — a difference that is usually pleasant — for example: “he goes to France for variety”; “it is a refreshing change to meet a woman mechanic”

Production Spindle — The “Basic Hatchtown”
Fancy Spindle — Used to be fancier — has that extra something — it’s a Production with a 2″ longer shaft
Standard Spindle — a mite old-fashioned…actually more “basic” than “standard”
Stubby — a smaller spindle…but it still has the center-draft hook! Truth be told, the Stubby is how I “re-cycle” the otherwise-they-would-be-used-as-kindling trimmed off bits of dowels.
The Spinimal — the most minimal spindle — fits in your purse or the seat pouch of your mountain bike
